AREAS OF EXPERTISE

Public Relations

The public relations industry drew my interest during a career fair at Oklahoma State University. I was drawn to the fast-paced career immediately, and I realized the importance of proper communication in the sports industry. Although I am not actively pursuing a career in PR specifically, my degree has equipped me with tools and knowledge to excel in operations, and game and event management.

Communication

Holding two part-time jobs and dedicating time to campus involvement, I learned the importance of communicating effectively with multiple audiences in various situations. From college students to university donors, I've developed the skills for efficient communication.

Graphic Design

My passion for design has opened the door for freelance work for online boutiques, advertising for on-campus organization events, and publications for Oklahoma and Oklahoma State Athletics. I am experienced in Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, InDesign and Illustrator.

Marketing

I am also intrigued by the business side of planning and execution. I earned a marketing minor to further understand analytics and marketing planning that promote successful campaigns.

Leadership

I love the challenge behind leading a team toward a common goal, and utilizing individual strengths for optimal performance. I believe in the power of constructive criticism and encouragement to accomplish  group achievement.

Planning and Organization

A planner and weekly task list are listed right under coffee on my list of necessities. I organize my tasks based on importance to ensure I meet deadlines in a timely manner. Although my days are planned in advance, I always allow time for an impromptu cup of coffee with friends.

Branding

I've used my design skills to create logos, resumes, business cards, thank you cards and newsletters for class projects, an online boutique, and my own photography business. Many of these examples can be found on my website.

Photography

I am in the process of establishing my hobby as a side business. I've shot senior photos, weddings, engagement photos, and family photos to build my portfolio. I do not claim to be a professional, but my passion drives me to eventually reach that level.

KAYLA ANNE RATLIFF

University of Oklahoma 2019 | MEd in Intercollegiate Athletic Administration
NICE TO MEET YOU. I'M KAYLA.

I am 24 years old, and I was raised in the panhandle of Oklahoma.

I currently attend the University of Oklahoma to pursue a Master's in Education in Intercollegiate Athletic Administration. I graduated from Oklahoma State University in May 2017 with a bachelor's degree in Strategic Communications and a minor in Marketing.

I'm currently a graduate assistant for the University of Oklahoma Athletics Department for game and event management at the Lloyd Noble Center. My love for the sports industry has increased through the behind the scenes experiences and opportunities through my current graduate assistant position and my previous internship with Oklahoma State Athletics. I love the fast-paced environment of collegiate athletics, as well as the day-to-day challenges the industry experiences.

When I'm not at work or in the classroom, you can find me with my nose in a book, hiking up a mountain, or behind a camera. I approach any opportunity to learn new things or experience new cultures, as I firmly believe we grow the best outside our comfort zone.

I incorporate this mindset into every challenge I am given in life, the classroom and the office. From a class project to communicating with Big 12 officials, I welcome the opportunity to incorporate my communications skills into a day-to-day task. I hope these elements shine through in my work experiences and the online examples I have provided.

Thank you for stopping by my online portfolio. Please feel free to navigate around the site and contact me with any questions you may have.
